Japanese Nakasendo Trail Coaching Retreat

Japanese Nakasendo Trail Coaching Retreat

Back by popular demand our Advanced Coaching Retreat on the Nakasendo Trail Japan, returns for 2025.

This retreat workshop explores the impact of environment, body intelligence, mindfulness and cultural influences in a whole-person approach to coaching.

Walk pack-free on the The Nakasendō or ‘Road Through the Central Mountains’, an important part of the ancient Japan’s highway network. Enjoy exploring the cobblestone streets as you soak up the surrounding Japanese landscape of running streams and dense forest, and the picturesque Kiso Valley.

The Program

This memorable retreat program brings together executives and experienced coaches, to explore leadership and coaching at the deepest essence level.

Over the five days of the program:

  • You will experience the Japanese art of being fully present in your endeavours and with other people.
  • You will explore and re-discover what success means, learning how to move beyond cliches and inherited stereotypes to uncover what is uniquely meaningful – for yourself and those you work with.
  • You will tap into the heritage of ancestors, in a dynamic and strengths-based approach to claiming the power of our authentic stories.
  • You will coach others to re-examine taken for granted or under-estimated facets of our experience and bring tacit knowledge to life.
  • You will learn to activate the super-powers that not only make us unique, but are greatly needed in our teams, organisations and societies.
  • You will explore what it means to live, personally and collectively, from your deepest intuition; learning to trust your deepest instincts, whilst also following the overt and subtle feedback offered by clients or those you lead.
  • You will be masterfully guided as you cultivate the practice of mindfulness.

Study with Rho Sandberg, a Master Certified coach and experienced leadership development practitioner and Zara Lawson a mindfulness practitioner, who shares the secrets of intuitive practice with her clients.

This retreat combines tuition, opportunities to coach and be coached, mindfulness practices, and nature-based learning in the majestic beauty of the Nakasendo trail, along with the profound and often unspoken learning that comes from this deep encounter with timeless Japanese culture.

Some pre-reading and reflection will be provided to prepare you for the immersive retreat experience.
